Some SaskTel services impacted by wildfires in the north
Several communities including Brabant Lake, Sucker Lake, Southend, Key Lake, Cigar Lake, Collins Bay, Wollaston Lake, Black Lake, Stony Rapids, and Fond du Lac may be experiencing lower than usual date services, dropped phone calls or discontinued data sessions.
SaskTel said its fibre transport infrastructure has been damaged by wildfires burning near McLennan Lake. It has resulted in significant network congestion in parts of Northern Saskatchewan impacting SaskTel internet, wireless and landline services.
SaskTel said crews are currently unable to access and begin repairing the damage.
“To help alleviate congestion on the network, customers in and around the impacted areas are strongly encouraged to limit their use of SaskTel services as much as possible.”
