RCMP confirm murder investigation at Deschambault Lake, suspect on the run

Saskatchewan RCMP say an altercation between two men at Deschambault Lake has resulted in a murder investigation.

On June 18, around 4 p.m., RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence.

Officers immediately responded and 39-year-old Steven Michel was declared deceased by EMS at the scene.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took over the investigation and now say Maverick Eninew from Deschambault Lake is wanted for second degree murder.

Eninew, who also goes by the name ‘Mavvy’ is described as:

  • Height: 5 ft 8 in
  • Weight: 157 lbs
  • Eye colour: brown
  • Hair colour and style: black
  • Other descriptors: flower tattoo on back of hand. He may be wearing a black baseball cap and black hoodie.

Eninew is known to travel to Deschambault Lake and Prince Albert.

RCMP say the accused and the victim were known to one another.

Anyone who sees Eninew is encouraged not to approach him. All sightings and information about the whereabouts of Eninew should be reported to your local police. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
