Jun 24, 2025 | 4:29 PM

The Métis Nation of Saskatchewan government is officially sworn in.

The election of the newly elected members took their oaths earlier Tuesday after citizens cast their votes last month.

While three positions with the Provincial Métis Council will undergo recounts, the newly elected council is:

President – Glen McCallum
Secretary – Marlene Hansen
Western Region I – Loretta King
Western Region IA – Billy Kennedy
Western Region II – Sherry McLennan
Western Region IIA – Beverley Fullerton
Western Region III – Wendy Gervais
Eastern Region I – Ryan Carriere
Eastern Region IIA – Darcy Lepowick
Eastern Region III – Marg Friesen
Northern Region I – Laura Burnouf
Northern Region II – Leonard Montgrand
Region III – Brennan Merasty

“We are pleased to have seen so many people engaged in the election process, from the number of candidates vying for seats to the high number of young people casting their ballots for the first time. People are paying attention, and rightfully so,” said MN–S President Glen McCallum as he begins his third term.

“The MN–S government’s track record speaks for itself. In the last eight years, we’ve established strong partnerships, demonstrated success in many areas, and continue to progress toward self-determination. With distinctions-based programs and services that help ensure our Métis identity, culture, values, and language are preserved for generations, we look forward to the next four years.”
