SARM continues to commit to representing rural interests

Jun 25, 2025 | 11:30 AM

The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) concluded its 2025 June Division Meetings, travelling approximately 2,200 kilometres throughout the province.

The meetings enabled SARM to gather direct feedback from rural municipalities, strengthen relationships, and share updates on programs and initiatives that support rural Saskatchewan.

SARM leadership and staff visited all six divisions, meeting with rural municipal leaders providing a valuable forum for open dialogue and collaboration.

SARM President Bill Huber said they are committed to being present and accessible to its members.

“Travelling across the province and meeting face-to-face with rural leaders is essential to understanding the issues they face and ensuring their voices are heard. These division meetings are a cornerstone of our advocacy and engagement,” he said.

Each session featured presentations and discussions on rural interests at the provincial and federal levels, outlining opportunities for skills development and council training in rural areas, and addressing the unique challenges and solutions for delivering health care in rural Saskatchewan.

Discussing best practices for maintaining rural infrastructure and providing clarity on municipal roles in land use and development was also discussed.

The meetings were held in North Battleford, Langham, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Kipling, and Kelvington.
