SJHL releases 2025/26 season schedule

Jun 25, 2025 | 4:32 PM

The 2025/26 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) regular season schedule has been released.

The season will begin on Friday, September 19, with all twelve teams in action.

The defending champion Melfort Mustangs will start their campaign at home on opening night against their division rivals – the Nipawin Hawks.

Meanwhile, the Humboldt Broncos will commence their year on the road for the first ever game in Warman Wolverines history.

The Broncos will then return home the next night (Saturday, Sept. 20) to welcome the Wolverines.

Nipawin will be the only team in the league not to have a home game the first weekend of the season, as the Hawks won’t play at the Centennial Arena until Friday, Sept. 26 when they host the Flin Flon Bombers.

Besides Warman taking the place of the Notre Dame Hounds, the only other major change in the league this upcoming season is the slight relocation of the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Instead of the Mel Hegland Uniplex in La Ronge, they will now play at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre within the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, just south of Air Ronge.

The 2025 portion of the regular season will wrap up on Saturday, Dec. 20 with just six of the 12 teams in action.

Play for the majority of the league will resume Friday, Jan. 2, however, the Kindersley Klippers and Battlefords North Stars will return a little earlier that week to play a home-and-home series on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1.

The SJHL season will then conclude in mid March, as all 12 teams will be battling it out on Friday, Mar. 13, with eight of the 12 teams ending their regular season the following day.

“We have had a busy off-season in the SJHL, holding our annual general meeting, our scheduling meeting and our SJHL Draft,” said Commissioner Kyle McIntyre in a SJHL press release. “We are 86 days away from puck drop, and we are excited to bring quality hockey to our fans, our communities, our players, and our many sponsors. Success starts here.”

The Melfort Mustangs will play 30 of their 56 games prior to the Christmas break, equally split up between 15 home and 15 road contests.

This mean their 26 matches in the new year will also be equally split, with 13 road and 13 home matchups.

Melfort’s longest homestand of the season will take place from Nov. 22 until Dec. 5. Five games in a row at the Palace will be against the Flin Flon Bombers, Weyburn Red Wings, Nipawin Hawks, Warman Wolverines, and Melville Millionaires.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs’ longest road trip will also be five games, as they spend time away from the Nothern Lights Palace from Jan. 16 until Jan. 30. They will play the Estevan Bruins, Weyburn Red Wings, Melville Millionaires, Battlefords North Stars, and Nipawin Hawks.

The Stangs will wrap up their 2025/26 campaign in Nipawin, against the Hawks, on Mar. 13.

As for those Hawks, 31 of their games will be played in 2025, with the remaining 25 occuring in 2026. Nipawin both begins (away on Sept. 19) and ends (home on Mar. 13) their year against the Blue and Green.

And finally, for the Humboldt Broncos, after competing against the Warman Wolverines in a home-and-home set to begin the season (away on Sept 19 and home on the 20), they will do the same to end their campaign, duking it out with their newly relocated division rivals on Mar. 13 (away) and Mar. 14 (home).

Humboldt plays 30 of their 56 games before the holidays, with the rest of the 26 coming after.

In total, each SJHL club plays 56 regular season games, eight times against each of their division rivals, and four times each against the other league members.
