Canada Post service alerts for Beauval and Patuanak due to wildfire

Jul 4, 2025 | 5:00 PM

Residents of two Saskatchewan communities evacuated several days ago due to wildfires are being warned about the impact on mail delivery.

The post office in Beauval is closed, so mail destined for that community is being held. Patuanak also has a red alert due to wildfires, but the post office remains open. However, transportation of the mail has been interrupted.

Delivery service alerts are posted and updated on Canada Post’s Delivery service alerts webpage. As information is updated on mail availability, delivery and postal services, it will be posted on the Closures and service interruptions webpage.

Customers with questions regarding mail delivery can contact Canada Post’s Customer Service team online or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).

According to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, the Muskeg Fire north of La Plonge and Beauval is about 18,000 hectares and is less than 20 kilometres from the communities.

Both Highway 918 and Highway 165 are closed.

The La Plonge reserve has also been evacuated, and sprinklers are operating on the north and east sides of the community.

The English River First Nation also said that they have been preparing for an event that would impact their communities, plus the hamlet of Patuanak, for several years, and residents can be assured that a lot is happening behind the scenes.

The 700 residents of Patuanak are still in the community but can’t leave as road access has been cut off by the fire.

All of the vehicles and equipment the community has is prepared, and crews are monitoring the situation.
