Jul 4, 2025 | 4:23 PM

Yet another graduating Melfort Mustang will extend their hockey career at the university level.

Logan Belton has announced his commitment to Brock University, where he will become a Badger for the 2025/26 season.

“Belton was a key piece of the Mustangs’ forward group over the past three seasons… his offensive skill, competitiveness, and leadership earned him a letter in his final season, serving as an assistant captain in 2024-25,” read a Mustangs’ press release.

“The Mustangs organization congratulates Logan on this achievement and thanks him for his dedication to the community of Melfort and the Mustangs over the past three seasons. Congratulations, Logan. Once a Mustang, always a Mustang.”

In his three years in Melfort, the now 21-year-old suited up 170 times in the Blue and Green uniform.

Split between the regular season, playoffs, and Centennial Cup action, Belton registered 140 points.

The Winnipeg, Man., native won two league titles and national silver medals during his time with the Stangs, and was instrumental in this year’s finals win over the Weyburn Red Wings. After his team lost Game 1, the six-foot, 185-pound forward single-handedly outscored the opposition in the next four contests, helping his squad earn the gentleman’s sweep.

Belton is the seventh graduating Mustang player this year alone to commit to a university sports organization.

Brock University is based in St. Catharines, Ont., and competes in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Conference.

The Guelph Gryphons also compete in the OUA, which is where teammate Nolan Roberts has committed.

Meanwhile, in the Canada West conference, which also falls under U Sports, are Ty Thornton (University of Alberta), Reilley Kotai (University of British Columbia), Zach Turner (University of Manitoba), and Nic Andrusiak and Zac Somers (University of Saskatchewan).

Former teammates James Venne and Ben Tkachuk are also both at the U of S.
