Birch Hills Threshing and Family Fun Day

Sunday, August 10 is the date set for the annual Birch Hills Threshing and Family Fun Day hosted by the Birch Hills and District Historical Society.

Adults and children (17 and under) are encouraged to enter the Photo Contest. Deadline for entries is August 2.

Categories include: animals/livestock, birds, flowers/butterflies, around the world, local landscape and inspiring faces. For info phone Mary at 306-749-3446. Print name, category entered, age and phone number and submit to museum on Wednesdays from 10 – 4 or Saturdays 10 – 2.

On August 10 there are activities for all ages beginning with a pancake breakfast in the museum basement from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Birch Hills Ministerial then leads the ecumenical worship service at 10:30. A parade begins at 12 noon and features local participants as well as those from a distance highlighting vintage, antique and collectible cars, trucks and motorcycles. The vehicles will then be on display.

After the parade people are invited to take in all the events that have been planned at the museum (the former Birch Hills Memorial Hospital) on Wilson Street.

The museum, thrift store and food venues will be open. In the large shed there will be a silent auction and also the display of entries in the photo contest. The petting zoo, children’s tatoos and rope making are sure to appeal to the youngsters.

There will be musical entertainment by Larry Krause in the coverall building starting at 1:30. Coffee, pie and ice cream will be available in the museum basement.

50/50 tickets will be on sale as well as $25 life-time memberships in the Birch Hills and District Historical Society.
