Day 3

Humboldt local leads Men’s Amateur, mid-am and women’s championships on homestretch

Jul 17, 2025 | 4:04 PM

Three of the four titles at the 2025 Saskatchewan Amateur Golf Championships are just hours away from being handed out at the Humboldt Golf Club (HGC).

The women’s championships (amateur and mid-amateur) and the men’s mid-am are roughly halfway through their third and final round.

Meanwhile, the men’s amateur has nearly two full rounds to go, as players teed off in the mid to late afternoon on Thursday for Round 3, with the fourth round still to be played on Friday.

Coming down the final stretch, Kyle’s Chloe Willis still holds the lead on the back nine of the women’s amateur, while Winnipeg’s Charmaine Hayden has grown a relatively comfortable lead in the women’s mid-amateur.

North Battlefords’ Natalie Maunula has improved one spot in the women’s am to solo 12th, as she enters the final nine holes of her tournament.

Meanwhile, on the men’s side, the home crowd has something to cheer about as Humboldt’s own Paul Raycroft has grabbed the lead in both the men’s amateur and mid-amateur (25 and over).

After an 8-under 64 on Day 2, Raycroft gained a slim one-shot lead over Swift Current’s Corey Bailey.

As it stands at 4 p.m., Raycroft has increased his lead to two strokes and has a chance to wrap up the mid-amateur title later today, and enter the final round of the amateur on Friday with the 54-hole/three-round clubhouse lead.

Nearly 150 golfers are in the field this week. The men’s amateur will have some cuts by the end of Thursday, reducing the number of competitors for Friday’s final round.

The men’s event had previously never been played in Humboldt in its 114-year history, while the women’s event had been hosted by the HGC before, back in 2014.
