Aug 8, 2025 | 4:51 PM

The investigation is underway into a fatal officer-involved shooting in Deschambault Lake.

RCMP say the incident happened Friday morning, and they are unable to publicly identify or provide further information about the deceased person as it is an unfolding situation.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the shooting, while the Prince Albert General Investigation Section (GIS) will look into the initial call for service received by Deschambault Lake RCMP.

Several people have been taken into custody in relation to the ongoing investigation.

RCMP say there will be an increased police presence near Oskatuc Ave. in Deschambault Lake as the investigation continues, and people are being asked to avoid the area if possible and follow any police direction provided.

The RCMP release said that if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, they will notify the public.

Further information about the incident will be provided when the RCMP is able to, being “mindful of the integrity of SIRT’s investigation.”
