Aug 13, 2025 | 12:03 PM

An Alberta storm moving into western Saskatchewan is creating conditions that could bring about severe weather today.

Environment Canada issued an alert just before 11:30 a.m., saying conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that will track eastward through the province today.

Occasionally, severe storms results in strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain that could lead to damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible.

Large hail can damage vehicles, crops and people.

The watch is for one of multiple storms to travel through central Saskatchewan in the last week.

From last night, near Meadow Lake.

On Friday, a significant rainfall was measured at 7.5 inches in one day by members of the Great Saskatchewan Rain Gauge Facebook group. It caused flash flooding on several city streets and led the cancellation of several events at the annual Exhibition.

The City of Prince Albert is asking all residents who experienced flooding, damage or concern to Public Works.

Residents can report online at the city’s solutions Hub at 306-953-4884 or online at the Cityworks portal on their website using keywords like manhole, catch basin or storm – general inquiry.
