Two P.A. residents face gun-related charges following Duck Lake video

Aug 14, 2025 | 4:15 PM

Two people from Prince Albert are now facing gun-related charges after RCMP launched an investigation into a video showing a group of people holding firearms and driving around the Duck Lake area.

The video was shared with police on Aug. 8, and the Crime Reduction Team began an investigation.

They found that a group of men were in a rural area in the RM of Duck Lake and were handling firearms while in a vehicle.

The edited video, widely circulated on social media, is set to cultural music and shows the individuals holding the weapons towards the air while sitting on the ledge of the passenger windows of two vehicles. At one point, a man can be seen standing with a gun outside and appears to fire a shot into the distance while others watch. No injuries were reported in connection to the incident.

On August 12, the CRT arrested 23-year-old Arsheep Cheema of Prince Albert and charged him with unauthorized possession of a gun, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

They also arrested and charged 37-year-old Priyanka (one name only) of Prince Albert with one count of careless use of a firearm and transferring firearms without authority.

Officers recovered the two firearms in the video and said they believe the incident is isolated in nature. Some online users speculated that the purpose of the guns was to kidnap local women and girls for human trafficking.

In their release, RCMP said they were sharing the information both to reassure the public of safety, as well as ensure misinformation is not being shared.

Both Cheema and Priyanka will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Sept. 16.
