Preliminary hearing set for pair charged in PA shooting

Aug 18, 2025 | 12:46 PM

Two of the group of four people suspected to be involved in the shooting of Orlan Peterson last October have had their preliminary hearing dates set.

Melissa McCallum, age 21 and Angus Heathen, 33, will be back in Prince Albert Provincial Court on January 21, 2026 for their joint preliminary hearing.

A preliminary hearing is held to determine if the Crown has enough evidence to proceed to trial. The details are covered under a publication ban.

RCMP have a third suspect, Dallas Fulton, on their most wanted list but no public sightings of Fulton have been reported since October.

After Peterson was robbed and shot on the White Star Road north of Prince Albert, a group of four suspects fled north in a vehicle stolen from Peterson.

The vehicle was stopped on Highway 123, which leads to Cumberland House and is over 200 kilometres from where Peterson was shot.

A work crew repairing the road moved a large rock truck into the path of the vehicle and the two collided.

Three or four suspects got out and fled into the surrounding bush.

McCallum and Heathen were spotted hours later by the Saskatoon Police Service helicopter and arrested.

Fulton and possibly Brody Lebel, who police say they believe have relevant details, have not been located since.
