E. coli advisory lifted

Swimming reopens at St. Brieux Beach after E. coli levels drop

The final local beach under an E. coli advisory has been cleared.

Swimming is once again allowed at St. Brieux Beach after a follow-up test showed E. coli levels had dropped dramatically.

Advisories for beaches at Wakaw Lake, LeRoy Leisureland, and Marean Lake were lifted on Friday.

All four beaches were closed to swimming after tests done Aug. 6, and retesting Aug. 13 showed acceptable E. coli levels.

The Ministry of Health recommended people keep up with advisories in effect for local lakes at their Healthy Beaches website.
