Man, woman charged after weapons and drugs found during traffic stop

Two people face charges after a traffic stop on a grid road west of Nipawin.

RCMP were called to assist conservation officers with Provincial Protective Services during the stop Wednesday morning.

The conservation officers had stopped a man and woman travelling in the area with a significant quantity of drugs and weapons.

Nipawin RCMP officers searched the vehicle and found one semi-automatic rifle, a flashlight taser, about 200 grams of methamphetamine, 54 grams of cocaine, additional drug paraphernalia, and a sum of cash.

35-year-old Tyler Sheridan of Nipawin, and 30-year-old Maureen Head of Melfort are charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Head is also charged with one count of possession with a firearm, while Sheridan faces additional charges including one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code.

Both will appear in court via CCTV Sept. 4 in Melfort.
