NCHCF hires Sarah Taylor as executive director

It is a new beginning for the North Central Health Care Foundation (NCHCF).

They have hired their first executive director, Sarah Taylor.

“I’m very excited to take on this role within our foundation,” Taylor told northeastNOW. “I hope to bring more exposure to the foundation through my role.”

The volunteer Board of Directors opted to hire an executive director as their mandate had grown beyond what volunteers could fulfill. Taylor said one of her goals is to continue the foundation mission to improve health care in the region, and she added it’s truly remarkable what the volunteer board has done through the years.

Many similar organizations across the province have been staffed with at least one paid employee.

“To ensure we can continue to fulfill our mission effectively and with focus, after twenty-two years of operating strictly by volunteers, we have now hired a dedicated individual to handle key aspects of the foundation’s day-to-day operations,” an NCHCF statement read on their social media pages.

Taylor said the volunteers have been going above and beyond for years to ensure the foundation followed through on its mission. Throughout the years, the foundation has helped raise funds for crucial equipment in the Melfort Hospital, including digital imaging systems and the heliport.

Taylor comes from a financing and accounting background, and she looks forward to helping organize the foundation and also promoting the work it does. She is also eager for both day-to-day operations and future fundraising opportunities. Taylor will also network with the board of directors and the network of other foundations across the province.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the volunteers who have built the foundation and set the groundwork for myself coming into this role,” Taylor said. “Their commitment and their hard work has been outstanding.”

The foundation’s volunteers have built the foundation, so to speak, and Taylor said there is a lot of work to do that has been on their plate up to this point.

That’s not the only change for the NCHCF. Monica Slobodzian has taken over as foundation chair, with Peggy George moving to past chair, after being chair for the last eight years.
