Mustangs seek different fate against rival Bombers

Nov 21, 2025 | 1:30 PM

The Melfort Mustangs hit the highway heading north on Friday to take on their rival Flin Flon Bombers.

Melfort is winless against their division foes this season, losing a pair of contests 2-1.

The Mustangs last played in Flin Flon on Sept. 27, dropping a 2-1 decision in a shootout.

More recently, the Bombers travelled to Melfort on Nov. 5, earning a 2-1 regulation victory.

The Stangs are coming off their largest win of the season, hammering the La Ronge Ice Wolves 8-1 on Saturday.

The Blue and Green also played well on Friday; however, they ran into a hot goaltender in Gage Roberts who shut them out.

Despite just the single victory over the weekend, the team looked for ways to get back to its standard of outworking opponents. The bounces finally seemed to go their way against La Ronge, as their efforts were rewarded in the offensive explosion.

The team will now try to maintain the high level of consistency from the past weekend, and figure out a way to take down the only Manitoba team in the SJHL for the first time this year.

Puck drop from the hard-to-play-in Whitney Forum goes at 7:30 p.m., with the pregame show beginning at 7:15 p.m. on 105CJVR.
