175% increase from same time last year

RCMP count 11 fatal motor vehicle collisions in November

Nov 25, 2025 | 4:19 PM

In a release issued earlier today, the Saskatchewan RCMP have revealed troubling numbers around fatal vehicle collisions in the province. In the period of November 1 to 25, the province has seen a total of 11 fatal motor-vehicle collisions, resulting in 11 deaths, on Saskatchewan roads.

Seven of those collisions have happened in the last seven days alone.

Compared to 2024 where four fatal collisions resulted in eight deaths, that represents an increase of 175 per cent in fatal collisions during the same period in 2024.

The numbers for this year are not much better. From January 1 to November 25 of 2025, the province has had a total of 94 people killed in 89 motor-vehicle collisions in the province. That represents an increase of 32.8 per cent in fatal collisions from the same period last year.

“While weather conditions may have been a factor in two of the fatal collisions this month, an astounding majority of these deaths involve the same four factors: seatbelts, speed, impairment by drug or alcohol, and distraction,” said Staff-Seargant Jason Suave in a media release.

RCMP are recommending that people:

  • Wear your seatbelt
  • Pay attention to your surroundings at all times
  • Do not speed
  • Do not drive impaired – by drugs or alcohol

“We keep repeating the same road safety messages continually because we see the role played by these factors every time we attend the scene of a fatal collision. We see how wearing a seatbelt, not driving impaired, not speeding, or staying focused on the road may have prevented these deaths.”

The stats provided from the RCMP do not include fatal collisions on private property, off-road crashes, collisions involving medical emergencies, or collisions outside of RCMP jurisdictions.
