Hawks meet Ice Wolves seeking fifth straight win

Dec 2, 2025 | 11:56 AM

The red hot Nipawin Hawks are on the road Tuesday in Air Ronge to take on the La Ronge Ice Wolves in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) action.

Nipawin has won four straight games and sits third in the SJHL standings behind Weyburn and Flin Flon. Head Coach Tad Kozun said his club is playing a complete game right now.

“We’ve liked our game here this last little stretch,” Kozun said. “We’ve kind of hit another gear here right now, but the biggest thing for us is we must keep going. We can’t be satisfied with where we are at right now and we have to keep pushing.”

Tuesday’s game will be the fourth matchup between the Hawks and Ice Wolves this year. Nipawin has won all three contests scoring at least four goals in each game. Over Nipawin’s four game winning streak the club has racked up 22 goals. La Ronge has given up 104 goals, the second most in the league.

Kozun said despite the Ice Wolves’ record no win is given up easily and he expects a tough test on the road.

“They remind me of kind of what we were last year, they are a young team and have a lot of good young pieces there. Anybody can beat anyone on any given night so we can’t take anything for granted. We’ve got to make sure we are on top of our game and be ready to go from puck drop,” Kozun said.

Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. The pregame show on 750 Beach Radio starts about 15 minutes ahead of the game.
