Mustangs end homestand with loss to Millionaires

Dec 6, 2025 | 1:45 PM

The Melfort Mustangs wrapped up their five-game homestand on Friday night.

Melfort welcomed in the Melville Millionaires and suffered a 5-2 loss.

The matchup was the first of the season between the two clubs, as the battle now shifts to Melville.

The Mustangs will travel to the CN Community Centre on Saturday, as they look to avenge Friday’s defeat and split the weekend home-and-home set.

Both teams are eager for points, as they’re both in the bottom half of the standings.

For the Stangs in particular, they sit on the outside looking in when it comes to a playoff spot, while the Millionaires just overtook the Humboldt Broncos for eighth place in the league (the final postseason position).

The Mills are now 12-11-2-2 on the year, with points in all of their past four games, while the Blue and Green have dropped to two games below .500 (9-11-1-2) for the second time this year.

Should Melfort want to get back in the win column, they’ll have to start on time tonight, as the club showed little fight in Friday’s match until the final 10 minutes.

The Mustangs were outscored 5-0 in the opening 48 minutes of the game, before forward Danton Cox added a pair for the Stangs, in the final nine-and-a-half minutes, to make the box score a little less lopsided.

Puck drop between the Blue and Green and the Blue and White will go at 7 p.m. this evening, with all the action available on 105CJVR and CJVR.com.
