Drinking water advisory continues

Drinking water advisory still in effect in Hudson Bay

Jan 26, 2026 | 2:05 PM

The precautionary drinking water advisory in Hudson Bay approaches its second week.

The Town of Hudson Bay said that the advisory issued Jan. 13 remains in place.

The advisory was put in place due to turbidity levels in the water.

Since it was posted, the Town has issued updates on the advisory’s status.

Their latest post on Monday said to deal with the turbidity issue the town needed to add equipment to the water treatment plant.

“The initial phase of this process has begun, and although the water turbidity has improved slightly, it is still not as good as we would like it to be,” the post read.

The Town expects more parts to arrive this week to assist in the process, and they thanked residents for their patience and understanding.

Hudson Bay residents are reminded to boil water for at least a minute on a rolling boil before consumption.

The Water Security Agency’s advisory said water also needs to be boiled when used for brushing teeth or soaking dentures, washing fruits and vegetables, using the water as ice cubes, and in any food or drink that will not be subsequently heated.

Dishes must also be washed in already-boiled water. Washed dishes and utensils can be soaked in a bleach water solution (approximately two tablespoons of bleach per gallon, or 10 ml of bleach per litre of water) for at least two minutes after being washed to kill any bacteria that may be present.
