How a kid from Prince Albert stole the hearts of British Columbia’s hockey fans
For the community of Prince Albert, Jim Robson is a man who grew up here and moved away when he was just a young 8-year-old boy. In the province of British Columbia however, and specifically to Vancouver Canucks fans, Robson is a legend and will forever be associated with Canucks hockey.
He passed away on February 9 at the age of 91 at a care home while undergoing treatment for cancer.
Originally from Prince Albert, he credited ‘listening to hockey games on the radio every Saturday night’ as the inspiration for getting into announcing, which around that time would’ve been to the likes of Dale Yoos calling Mintos games back in the early days of CKBI.
