The Hawks will take a four-game winning streak into their second, and final road trip to Weyburn and Estevan this weekend.

The recent Nipawin run has put the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) club back into fourth place, two points ahead of the Red Wings. The Hawks streak started with a 2-0 win over Weyburn on Feb. 4. Since then, Nipawin has downed La Ronge twice and routed the North Stars 6-1 on Feb. 10. Head Coach Tad Kozun said his team is playing well right now.

“It’s been a good little run here since the calendar has flipped to February,” he said ahead of the team departing Saturday morning. “That Tuesday night game versus the Battlefords, I thought that might have been our most complete game in a couple years. I thought right from the start we had it and we had everyone pulling on the same rope. It was a good thing to see.”

The Hawks and Wings have met three times this year, Weyburn has a two games to one advantage including a 6-2 win at Whitecap Resources Centre on Oct. 18. The Hawks will play Estevan Sunday afternoon. Nipawin lost 7-1 to the Bruins back in October. Kozun said if his group can keep this current level of play the weekend should be more successful.
