Thunder season over; Trojans win, Wolfpack lose

The Carrot River Outback Thunder have been eliminated from PJHL playoff contention after their regular season ended with a pair of losses on the weekend. 

The Thunder lost 5-4 to the Prince Albert Timberjaks and 5-2 to the Saskatoon Quakers. 

PA stormed out to a 5-0 lead before the Thunder stormed back to make it 5-4, but they couldn’t find the tying goal.  

Lukas Tuplin, Chase Sylvestre, Chase Taylor, and James Klemetski scored for Carrot River. 

The game ended with three fights and a series of misconducts.

In the game versus Saskatoon, Rhett Ludba and Dawson Malinowski scored for Carrot River, and Dominic Smith made 28 saves.

A big win for the Tisdale Trojans on the weekend. 

Carter Hudyma’s second of the game in overtime propelled them to a 5-4 win over Warman in AAA action Sunday afternoon. 

Camryn Aebig, Jacob Tait, and Kash Elke also scored for the Trojans, and Wyatt Fleischhacker stopped 29 shots for the victory. 

Tisdale is now 17-22-2-0 on the season, just three points back of Battlefords for seventh and two back of the Saskatoon Contacts for the eighth and final playoff spot. 

The Trojans have a game in hand, and they will host the Prince Albert Mintos Wednesday night at 8 p.m. 

Tisdale will visit Estevan in their final two regular season games Friday and Saturday.

The North East AA Wolfpack dropped an 8-7 decision in Humboldt on the weekend. 

Taylor Coleman had a hat-trick for the Wolfpack, while Sawyer Pollon, Hayle Dennis, Jonas Markward, and Nixon Coleman also scored. 

The game was tied at 7, until a Broncos goal with just over three minutes left. 

Kane Huston made 45 saves for the Wolfpack, who return to action Wednesday night in Melfort as they host the rematch with the Broncos. 

Game time is at 7:15.
