Feb 25, 2026 | 9:37 AM

The Melfort Mustangs continue to roll.

The Mustangs bumped their winning streak to nine games with a 4-2 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings at the Northern Lights Palace Tuesday night.

Tristin Ziola opened the scoring for the Mustangs just under five minutes into the first period before Weyburn responded to tie the game, as former teammate Will Munro tied the game at one just over three minutes later.

Melfort regained their one-goal lead a minute after Weyburn’s goal, with Luke Mackenzie netting his fifth goal of the season.

The Mustangs scored both goals in the second period to make it a 4-1 game heading into the third period.

Nolan Patterson scored both Melfort goals in the second frame, his ninth and 10th goals of the campaign.

Weyburn added a goal just under five minutes into the third, but it wasn’t enough, as they saw their two-game winning streak snapped.

Kason Kobelka earned the win in net for the Mustangs, stopping 25 shots, as the Mustangs outshot the Wings 31-27.

Melfort is now two points up on Melville and Estevan for sixth place in the SJHL standings, with a 25-20-2-2 record.

The Mustangs will look to extend their winning streak to double digits as they host Flin Flon Friday in the first game of a weekend home-and-home.

Melfort has seven games remaining in the regular season, with four of those at the Palace.
