Parker Bleich of Nipawin has signed with the Tisdale Trojans and will turn his focus to the U18 AAA hockey ranks next season.

Bleich, 15, is a product of the Nipawin Minor Hockey Association and most recently the Northeast Wolfpack U15 AA organization. The Trojans announced last week that the Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey League club signed the six feet, 160-pound defenseman for next year. Bleich said he’s excited about the opportunity at the next level.

“They’ve done nothing but treat me great. I felt it was a natural fit for me. I clicked really well with the guys there, got along well with the coaches. I am looking forward to it,” Bleich told northeastNOW.

In 27 games this season with the U15 Wolfpack Bleich has 12 goals and 30 points. Tisdale has played him in eight games this season as an affiliate player. Bleich scored a goal and added three assists in those games. He said getting on the scoresheet already was a dream come true.

“I never knew how many games I would get with them,” he said. “I was fortunate enough to score with them. It was an awesome experience. I was in shock after scoring but it’s something I will never forget.”

Signing in the province’s top under-18 league was just one goal of Bleich’s. He is in the final 36 players vying for a spot on Team Saskatchewan that will compete at the Canada Games next winter. Bleich is also hoping to hear his name at this summer’s Western Hockey League draft.

After playing in the eight games this year with the Trojans, he knew goal one was likely surpassed.

“It helped my choice. Even the practices and bus rides, everyone treated me well and it definitely helped my decision,” he said.

Bleich’s season has come to an end, both the Wolfpack and Trojans missed the playoffs in their respective leagues this campaign.
