CCGA opens spring cash advance applications

Mar 5, 2026 | 1:51 PM

The cash advance program supports Western Canadian crop and livestock farmers by providing operating capital.

Each year, more than 10,000 farmers across Western Canada use a cash advance to help manage cash flow and reduce borrowing costs. The combination of interest-free and below-prime financing can translate into savings compared to other forms of short-term financing.

The 2026 Advance Payment Program (APP) is administered by the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA). The early application window for 2026 is now open.

CCGA Vice-President, Finance & APP Operations Dave Gallant said farmers can submit their application and CCGA will begin issuing funds for the 2026 program on Apr. 1.

“With seeding around the corner, now is a good time for farmers to submit their spring cash advance applications,” Gallant said. “Applying early means farmers get their paperwork done before field work begins, and it gives CCGA time to process their applications and provide the spring operating funds they need as quickly as possible.”

This year farmers can access up to $1 million in total financing including up to $100,000 interest-free on more than 50 eligible commodities, up to an additional $400,000 interest-free on canola only and an interest-bearing advance rate of prime less 0.25 per cent.

First-time applicants should contact CCGA at 1.866.745.2256 for assistance with their application. Returning applicants can also access self-serve options through their online account here.
