Four residents of Red Earth Cree Nation are behind bars after a large quantity of drugs and weapons were seized during a traffic stop, and at multiple homes on the reserve.

It all started on March 17 when Carrot River RCMP pulled over a vehicle on Red Earth Cree Nation. There, they arrested the driver for impaired driving and for having a quantity of methamphetamine. Officers also detained the two passengers and searched the vehicle, which yielded ammunition, a machete and two loaded air pistols. One of the passengers was also in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, while the third passenger was released with no charges.

Further investigation led to RCMP executing four different search warrants at four separate homes on the reserve, where police found and seized 15 firearms, large quantities of drug trafficking paraphernalia, and multiple cell phones.

As a result, 40-year-old Harlan Whitehead, 39-year-old Harla Whitehead, and 34-year-old Harlos Whitehead have each been handed their own lists of weapon-related charges. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Chad Head was also charged with weapons related offences, in addition to possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
