Hold and Secure at Reynolds School in Melfort on Tuesday

Reynolds Central School in Melfort was the scene of a hold and secure incident earlier this week. 

The incident happened on Tuesday. 

The North East School Division didn’t release much information on the incident, but did send a note to Reynolds school parents that day. 

“Please be advised that earlier today (Tuesday) a situation on our playground required staff to respond to ensure the safety of all students,” the note read. “As a precaution, the school was placed in a hold and secure until the matter was resolved.” 

The note added that during a hold and secure, there is a potential safety concern in the surrounding area. The school secures its perimeter, meaning that no one is permitted to enter or leave the building.

“We are happy to report that everyone is safe, and we thank our staff for their prompt and appropriate response,” the note concluded. 

Melfort RCMP responded to the incident, but Staff Sgt. Ryan Case said they cannot disclose any information due to the age of the involved people.
