Mustangs look to get back in series in Game 3

Mar 24, 2026 | 11:58 AM

The Melfort Mustangs hope to get themselves part of the way back into their first-round series tonight (Tuesday) when they host the Battlefords North Stars.

Melfort travelled to North Battleford this past weekend for games one and two, unfortunately falling short in both instances.

Despite a sizeable shot lead, the Mustangs have found trouble scoring, especially on the power play.

“The first two games have obviously been a bit frustrating. I think that we’ve played well; we just haven’t quite got those bounces, but I think the tides are gonna turn here in games three and four,” explained defenceman Bo Eisner.

“I think there’s still a ton of confidence and belief in this group. We played well on the road on the weekend, but we’re a different beast at the Palace. There aren’t a lot of teams that can beat us at home, so I think it’s gonna be a really good game tonight.”

This isn’t the first time this year’s Stangs squad has dealt with an uphill climb, as to get to the postseason, they used a great final stretch to go from the 10th seed to the sixth.

“Our backs have been against the wall for quite a while, so honestly, I think we’re used to it, and I think we’re gonna respond here tonight,” Eisner added.

Puck drop from the Northern Lights Palace is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with the pregame show beginning at 7:10 p.m. on 105CJVR and CJVR.com.
