The Hawks and Red Wings will clash at the ‘Cage’ Saturday in game five of their best of seven Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) playoff series tied at two games each.

Nipawin tied the series on Wednesday in Weyburn early in overtime when Konnor Watson scored the game winning goal. Coming home tied was the goal after not playing a great game in game three according to Head Coach Tad Kozun.

“We knew this series was going to be tight and we are probably right where we expected to be. The nice part is we made it the best of three with two games on our home ice. I like the resiliency of our group, game three wasn’t our best but we were still in that hockey game. I thought game four we played well. We got down early; we never quit and kept plugging away. Now we must refocus and be ready to go tonight,” he said.

The winner will have a chance to close out the series in Weyburn on Monday at Whitecap Resources Centre. Kozun, a Nipawin native and Hawk alumnus expects the Centennial Arena to be rocking for arguably the biggest game in his young coaching career.
