Three arrested after assault, forcible confinement in Nipawin

Three people have been arrested after an assault at a home in Nipawin. 

Officers responded to a report of an assault March 29, and determined a victim was assaulted and forcibly confined before escaping and contacting police. 

The victim was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

Nipawin and Carrot River RCMP arrested seven people at the home.  

A search warrant was executed at the home and yielded five firearms, 14 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of fentanyl, 129 pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and other weapons. 

Twenty-four-year-old Julian Kitchener of Shoal Lake has been charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, and one count of forcible confinement. 

He was also wanted on a warrant by Carrot River RCMP, including firearms offences. 

Wendell Greenleaf, 32, from Nipawin was arrested on a warrant from Nipawin RCMP for charges including assault causing bodily harm. 

Shelinda Vallier, 37, from Cumberland House was arrested on a warrant from Melfort RCMP for charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm. 

The others were released without charges. 

The three arrested were in court for the first time April 1 in Nipawin Provincial Court. 

The investigation continues.
