Mustangs commit Calgary forward

The Melfort Mustangs have committed a new player for the 2026/2027 SJHL season. Forward Nolan Van Waes is the newest member of the organization.

Van Waes is an 18-year-old native of Calgary, Alta., spending his entire U15 and U18 career in his hometown.

For the past three seasons, the 2008-born forward has been a part of the U18 Calgary Rockies squad in the Junior Prospects Hockey League.

In a combined 91 regular-season contests, Van Waes has 22 goals and 34 assists, good for 56 points. Meanwhile, in an additional 15 playoff matches, the 6-1, 185-pound forward has five goals and five assists, totalling 10 points.
