Broncos commit second goaltender in last week

Apr 10, 2026 | 5:04 PM

The Humboldt Broncos have committed their second goaltender in the past week.

Netminder Reid Wassermann is the club’s newest player and will be joining them this fall. A product of Saskatoon, Wassermann has spent the entirety of his minor hockey career in his hometown and, most recently, was a member of the Blazers U18 AAA squad.

“We wanted to secure our goaltending, knowing there’s a good chance we start off the year without Brady (Holtvolgt),” said Broncos Head Coach Brayden Klimosko. “Reid played in an exhibition game and did excellently. I’m really excited to add another solid option in net for us this upcoming season.”

The 2008-born backstop was originally selected by Humboldt in the 2024 U16 SJHL draft (Round 1, Pick 10). In his minor hockey days, he suited up for the U15 AA Generals, and U18 AA Icehawks and Riverkings before playing for the Blazers.

“Reid has earned this opportunity through his dedication, consistency, and ability to compete at a high level,” added the organization in a press release. “He adds depth and reliability to our crease heading into next season and represents another important piece of the team’s future. We look forward to continuing to work with Reid and supporting his development both on and off the ice as he begins his junior hockey career in Humboldt.”

The 17-year-old, who stands at 6’1″ and 190 pounds, has produced campaigns of 3.02 goals-against-average, .903 save-percentage, and a 9-8 record in 2024/25, along with 3.30 goals-against-average, .896 save-percentage, and a 15-7-2 record in 2025/26 with the Blazers.
