Hawks commit BC defenceman

The Nipawin Hawks have added a new defenceman for the 2026/27 season.

Victoria, B.C. native, Boston Cripps is joining the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League club.

Cripps, a 2008-born product, has spent parts of the last three seasons in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL), split between the Saanich Predators and the Nanaimo Buccaneers.

In total, Cripps played 83 games for the Predators from 2023 to 2026, registering seven goals and 24 assists for 31 points.

More recently, the 6’2″, 190 pound, 18-year-old suited up 18 times for the Buccaneers, registering five goals and 10 assists, good for 15 points.

“We are excited to sign Boston, a smooth-skating right-shot defenceman who can provide offence from the back end,” said the Hawks in a press release. “We are happy to welcome Boston and his family to our organization.”
