Saskatchewan, Manitoba teams battle it out in Melfort at annual 222s Shootout
U13 and U15 girls softball teams from across Saskatchewan and Manitoba descended on Melfort over the weekend for the annual 222’s Fatspitch Shootout.
A total of 12 teams competed, seven of them in the U13 grouping and five in the U15 side, over the three-day tournament.
“It was a really good tournament, and it was nice because the weather just held out… it seems like it rains every single year at this tournament, so this year we really lucked out. We got in all the games, we didn’t have to move anything, and it actually just started spitting as we were packing up to leave Sunday afternoon, so perfect timing,” explained Melfort Minor Softball Association President, Jessie Spencer.
“We had lots of really good competition at this tournament, some of the best teams from across the province, and one from Manitoba. Lots of really good competition and improvements from our two Spirit teams this weekend.”
