SJHL releases 2026/27 pre-season schedule

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has released its schedule for the 2026/27 preseason.

Teams will play between three and six exhibition games to gear up for the regular season campaign, doing so against fellow SJHL squads, as well as MJHL and AJHL clubs.

For the Melfort Mustangs in particular, they will play four pre-season contests, all against local rivals.

Melfort will kick off its schedule on Monday, Sept. 9, at home against the Nipawin Hawks. The Mustangs will then visit the Hawks the following night in Nipawin.

The Stangs’ pre-season will then conclude that weekend with a home-and-home set against the Humboldt Broncos (Friday, Sept. 11 in Humboldt and Saturday, Sept. 12 in Melfort).

As for the Broncos themselves, they will also see the Warman Wolverines back-to-back nights the weekend prior, battling Saturday, Sept. 5 in Humboldt and Sunday, Sept. 6 in Warman. The Green and Gold begin their five exhibition matches Friday, Sept. 4 in Nipawin.

And finally, the Hawks will end their five-game preseason schedule with consecutive meetings against the La Ronge Ice Wolves Friday, Sept. 11 at home and Saturday, Sept. 12 in La Ronge.

The 56-game 2026/27 SJHL regular season, meanwhile, is set to begin Friday, Sept. 18.
