Humboldt issues Expression of Interest for proposed rec centre initiative
The City of Humboldt is looking for interest in developing their new recreation centre.
They have issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Rec-Create Humboldt initiative. The Rec-Create Humboldt committee took their final report to City Council in June, identifying shortages of ice time, indoor court facilities, and performing arts space.
Leisure Services Director Michael Ulriksen said the committee concluded that those gaps couldn’t be bridged with the current infrastructure, and a new facility was needed.
Council endorsed the findings and started the steps toward making that facility a reality. That included committing funding toward the exploration of what the project could look like, looking to success stories across the countries and what made them successful, and reimagining what the Rec-Create Humboldt steering committee would look like going forward.
