Trojans sign Hounds netminder

The Tisdale Trojans have signed a new goaltender for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.

Karter Hilbig, a 2009-born native of Saskatoon, will be joining the Trojans organization this fall.

Hilbig spent the entirety of last season within the SMAAAHL (Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League), suiting up for the U18 AAA Notre Dame Hounds.

There, his numbers suffered, as he had to backstop the league-worst Hounds, who only won six of their 44 games and finished with a negative 153 goal differential.

Overall, Hilbig played 28 games, in which he produced a 0-19-1 record with a 6.51 goals-against average and an .843 save percentage.

The six-foot-two, 154-pound 17-year-old has hockey in his blood, as his cousins Ethan and Tylin Hilbig were mainstays with the SJHL’s Kindersley Klippers, and now both play for the University of Windsor Lancers in U Sports.

Karter’s uncle Blain, meanwhile, also played for Kindersley back in the day, as well as suiting up for the Melfort Mustangs and Humboldt Broncos.
