Locals taken in WHL Prospects Draft
The WHL Prospects Draft was held on Thursday, and the list was full of local players.
Kayden Stroeder was the first local product selected. The Humboldt U15 AA Bronco from Lanigan was selected fifth overall by the Edmonton Oil Kings. The centre had 127 points in just 27 games last season, including 58 goals. He also had 2 points in 3 games for the Prince Albert Mintos.
Nipawin’s Blake Chorney was taken with the tenth pick by the Vancouver Giants. Chorney, a centre, had 42 points in 24 regular-season games, and 12 points in five playoff games with Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep.
