Suspect sought after robbery at home in RM of Star City

One person has been arrested and another is wanted after a robbery at a rural home in the RM of Spalding on Monday.

RCMP say two men wearing masks entered the home with guns and pointed them at two people inside.

The men stole two guns and electronics from the home before leaving in a vehicle. There were no injuries.

The suspect vehicle was spotted by police on the Fishing Lake First Nation and officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested at the scene, and three firearms in the vehicle were seized. RCMP say two of the guns in the vehicle were stolen in the robbery.

The vehicle the suspect was driving was previously reported stolen out of Humboldt.

23-year-old Bohdey Bussiere of Spalding is charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He will appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Thursday.

A warrant has been issued for 34-year-old Joseph “Joey” Desjarlais of Fishing Lake First Nation. He is charged with:

  • one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, carrying a weapon with the intent to commit an offense, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, break and enter and steal a firearm, Section 98(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unlawful possession of a firearm, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, robbery with a firearm, Section 344(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, break and enter, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, wear a mask while committing an indictable offense, Section 351(2), Criminal Code; and
  • three counts, possess a firearm while prohibited from doing so, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.

Desjarlais is also wanted on a warrant for charges in relation to a Sept. 8 armed robbery in Wadena.

He is 5’7” tall and 130 pounds with brown eyes, short brown hair, and a short beard. Desjarlais has tattoos of the words “public” and “enemy” with flames on his hands, and “Bonnie and Clyde” tattooed on the right side of his neck.

Residents are advised not to approach Desjarlais, and to report his whereabouts you can call your local detachment at 310-RCMP (7267) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Assisting in the investigation were Wadena, Humboldt, Rose Valley, and Tisdale RCMP, along with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Melfort Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services.
