SaskParty candidate Todd Goudy opens campaign office in Melfort

The Saskatchewan Party candidate in the Melfort constituency is looking to keep the riding green and yellow.

The Melfort riding has been under the Sask. Party flag since 1997, shortly after the party was formed.

Todd Goudy is looking to keep that streak going, as he looks to return to the legislature for his second full term. He opened his campaign office on Saturday in the former Floors and More building on Burrows Ave. E. in Melfort.

Goudy was elected in a byelection after the passing of former MLA Kevin Phillips and easily won re-election in 2020 with almost 78 per cent of the vote.

He told northeastNOW his campaign has gone well so far, with the election now three weeks away.

“It’s probably gone as smooth as you can expect, so it’s been great,” Goudy said.

The SaskParty candidate said he’s been door-knocking several nights in Melfort, along with Kinistino, Weldon, and Naicam. Going door-to-door in the constituency is Goudy’s favourite aspect of the campaign.

“Being able to get to all of the communities and just hear from the people what’s going on in their lives, and if they’ve got any concerns,” he said.

Goudy said the feedback during the campaign has been largely positive so far and adds it’s great to be able to visit and reconnect. His main goal is to reach as many homes and businesses as possible during the remaining three weeks.

“You get so busy during the four-year term that you do get a little disconnected with the people you grew up with…so this is a really healthy time to reconnect,” said Goudy.

According to Goudy, the feedback he receives will serve him well should he be re-elected after the Oct. 28 election.
