PC candidate in Humboldt-Watrous hoping to improve transparency, affordability

Oct 8, 2024 | 4:41 PM

The Progressive Conservative (PC) Party of Saskatchewan is not new to politics in the province.

Rose Buscholl has been in provincial politics for nearly a decade and became the leader of the party back in 2022, previously running in provincial elections in 2016 and 2020, and a byelection in 2023. Buscholl, who lives in the Colonsay area, manages a retail liquor store and has been a first responder.

“I believe we need change in the province and it’s time that we have it,” Buscholl told northeastNOW.

Buscholl said she has long been a member of the party and calls the PC’s ‘Conservatives with a heart.’

“We are fiscally conservative, but socially progressive,” Buscholl explained.

The campaign is a couple of weeks old and Buschell said she’s been door-knocking and plans to do more between now and the Oct. 28 election date. She will also be part of a couple of town hall meetings in the near future and would like to schedule more to reach as many people as possible.

Buschell believes the issues affecting local constituents are affordability and the distrust of the SaskParty government.

“It’s obvious that they don’t trust the government, there’s no transparency, there’s no accountability, we’re not being told everything that we should be told,” Buschell said.

This election is critically important, according to Buschell, and she urges voters to learn more about both the political parties and the specific candidates.

“If you want the change, exercise that right and go out and vote,” said Buschell. “I think it’s important that people research the parties, research the platforms, and pick the candidate – not the party – but pick the candidate which you feel will (best) represent you in this election.”
