Lottery win

Tisdale woman wins 100k on EXTRA draw

Oct 11, 2024 | 12:55 PM

A big lottery win for a woman from Tisdale.

Elaine Lumberjack won a $100,000 EXTRA prize in the Sept. 7 draw, but she didn’t know it at first.

Lumberjack said she was having coffee with her niece who told her someone in Saskatchewan had won the $100,000. Elaine checked her ticket shortly after.

“I checked this one and thought I’d won $10 – I can’t see very well – I checked again and thought it was $100,” Lumberjack said in a SaskLotteries news release.

When Lumberjack realized she won the 100 grand, she screamed “Woohoo!”. Despite her big win, she had some trouble convincing family members that she was indeed $100,000 richer. Lumberjack said they didn’t believe her at first because of her eyesight.

“So, everyone came over and I passed the ticket around so they could see it for themselves.”

Lumberjack said she’ll share her money with her family.

“I’m an old woman,” she joked. “I can’t take my money with me, so I’ll help some people out.”

Lumberjack purchased the winning ticket at the Prairie North Co-op C-Store in Melfort.

She won the money by matching the last six digits of the Sept. 7 draw.
