Charges laid after erratic driving incident in Melfort area

Oct 17, 2024 | 10:40 AM

Five people have been charged after Wednesday’s erratic driver call near Melfort.

RCMP were called about a Dodge truck that was being driven erratically on Highway 3 west of Melfort early yesterday afternoon.

Police located the vehicle just west of Melfort but the truck didn’t stop for the officers and sped down Saskatchewan Dr.

RCMP say the truck drove into the rural area south of Melfort and the vehicle was later found in some bushes of a field that had been harvested.

When police approached the vehicle, three females were arrested, and two males ran into the bush. They were soon apprehended as well.

All five suspects face new charges and several of them had warrants out for their arrest in other police jurisdictions.

A 27-year-old from Prince Albert is charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, resisting a peace officer, driving while prohibited, impaired driving, and failure to comply with release conditions.

A 32-year-old woman from Melfort faces charges including flight from police and dangerous driving.

A 24-year-old man from Prince Albert, a 28-year-old woman from Shellbrook, and a 16-year old from Muskoday First Nation are each charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, and resisting a peace officer.
