Preliminary hearings set

Preliminary hearing dates set for two local murder cases

A pair of local murder cases have had the date of their preliminary hearings set.

Cody Chubey’s case was in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday, and his preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 28, 2025.

Chubey is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Danielle Dobersheck, who was found dead in a motel in Melfort in March.

Chubey had previously been involved in a long-term relationship with Dobersheck.

The preliminary hearing for Kevin Swanson of Naicam was also set in Melfort on Monday.

Swanson will have his prelim hearing on May 6.

Swanson was charged with second-degree murder after a serious assault at a home in Naicam in May.

Eighty-one-year-old Dennis Swanson was pronounced dead at the scene.
