Melfort Mustangs still in CJHL Top 20 after largely idle week

The Melfort Mustangs remain in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s (CJHL) Top 20 rankings.

The Mustangs slipped from number nine in the country to 14th.

Melfort fell 6-2 to Flin Flon on the weekend in their first game in over a week.

The Mustangs host Estevan Wednesday night at the Palace, as they honour former head coach Kevin Dickie.

The Weyburn Red Wings have climbed to number 13 in the rankings. They have points in 14 straight games, a streak that includes 13 wins and one overtime loss.

Meanwhile, the Humboldt Broncos have a player of the week in the SJHL.

Netminder Brady Holtvogt was named the IKS Media Rookie of the Week.

The 2007-born goalie stopped 31 shots in Humboldt’s 3-2 shootout win over Melville on Saturday.
