Melfort Comets win silver at high school volleyball provincials

The Melfort Comets girls’ volleyball team won the silver medal at provincials in La Ronge.

The Comets beat undefeated Tisdale in the 4A quarterfinals to advance to the semi-final, then disposed of Humboldt to reach the final.

Melfort lost in straight sets to the champion North Battleford John Paul II.

Humboldt played in the bronze medal game but lost two sets to one to Moose Jaw Vanier.

Lanigan won the 3A girls title with a two sets to none win over Carnduff in the final, while Wynyard finished fourth.

Wakaw took the 2A girls crown with a straight-sets win over Langham.

In the 1A girls final, Annaheim downed LeRoy two sets to none in the final to win gold.

In boys regionals, the Melfort Comets won their 4A regional at home to advance to provincials.

The Comets downed Humboldt two games to one in the final to advance.

Kinistino moved on to provincials with a two sets to one win over Hepburn in 2A regionals.

In 1A regionals, Annaheim finished first to advance, while LeRoy finished third.
