Rollover, carbon monoxide calls keep Nipawin Fire Department busy

Jan 6, 2025 | 11:21 AM

It was a busy end of 2024 and start to 2025 for the Nipawin Fire Department.

Crews were called out to a false alarm Christmas Day and were kept on their toes throughout the holidays.

They responded to a rollover north of Wapiti Dec. 28, another rollover late New Year’s Eve, and a tanker crash New Year’s Day.

On Jan. 4, crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at a home in Nipawin.

A detector was sounding in the basement, but upon further inspection the detector was found to be faulty.

Nipawin Fire said the detector was not CSA approved, was purchased online and did not have a manufacturer’s name or date. However, the department praised the family for being cautious and evacuating the home immediately.
