Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, “Peggy” Ida Margaret Ann Baugh (née Flett) passed away quietly on September 23, 2025 at the age of 95.
Peggy was born on January 25, 1930 in Regina, SK. She grew up on the family farm in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK. She was the sixth of nine children born to George and Maggie Flett. Peggy’s love for horses soon led her and her horse, Tiny Bloom, into the world of show jumping where she very quickly excelled and made headlines during her teenage years.
Peggy met her husband, Don, in school at the Fort, where they fell in love and were married on January 29, 1949. They were together for 73 years until dad passed away in January, 2022.
Mom’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. Her humour and smile had a way of brightening everyone’s day. She was also a master at pulling pranks on us kids and grandchildren. She took great pride in her flower gardens and always had her yard looking beautiful. There isn’t a child or grandchild who didn’t have something amazing to wear that she had created using her knitting or sewing skills. Mom always had a knitting project on the go for a loved one.
Mom’s competitive spirit was passed down to all of us as could be witnessed when we played games together as a family. Many times who did the dishes was decided by who had won the game. Her home was always open for family and friends; she had an extraordinary gift for nurturing lasting relationships with those around her. She had a listening ear and sage advice to the many people who knew and loved her. One of mom’s most valuable possessions was her little address book with everyone’s birthdate and address in it.
Peggy, as mother of seven; Carol (Hank Swartout), Debbie (Duane McAvoy), Shelley (H. Brian Wilson deceased), Dawn (Brian Reilkoff), Cathy (Daryl Boehme), Jane (Wayne Horkoff) and her son, Scott, along with 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, will be greatly missed. Mom offered us love, wisdom and encouragement.
Peggy was the heart of our home and family, she dedicated her life to create a warm and nurturing home for all of us. We love you so much mom, you have a place in our hearts forever.
“Tha gaol againn oirbh” (we love you)
